PLI Acquires PSA

PLI Acquires PSA

Plasticard Locktech International (PLI), the world’s largest hotel keycard and gift and loyalty card manufacturer, announced today that it has acquired PSA. PSA, a premier closed loop card manufacturer and provider of holistic card marketing solutions, is headquartered in Romeoville, IL with a second location in St. Louis, MO. The addition of the PSA team will increase PLI’s total workforce nationwide from 700 to more than 1000 employees. This acquisition doubles the PLI facilities to four and grows the production space from 300,000 to 450,000 square feet across the country. The announcement comes just one week after PLI announced it would grow its workforce in its North Las Vegas facility by 25 percent.

“The acquisition of PSA marks another milestone moment in PLI’s 29-year history. It not only adds capacity, capability, and another valuable distribution point for our customers, but we are also gaining a talented and motivated team in both locations that are aligned with the Customer First Culture at PLI,” said Peter Krauss, President & CEO, PLI. “Many companies strive to be the biggest, and we have achieved that. Our focus, however, is to simply offer the best service and value to our customers, and this deal is in keeping with that goal. We are most excited that the existing key members of leadership at PSA have chosen to become members of the PLI Team. It is not only a testament to their dedication but also to the exciting opportunities they saw possible as part of the larger organization,” added Krauss.

The acquisition will expand PLI’s capacity from the production of 1.1 billion cards a year to 1.6 billion cards. North Las Vegas has been producing 350 million cards annually. That number is expected to grow to more than 600 million with an increase in staff and demand. PLI announced last week that it will grow its workforce by an additional 25 percent in its North Las Vegas facility by adding a third shift to its operations and up to 75 new employees, 50 of those to be hired immediately.

“Becoming part of the PLI family is extremely exciting for PSA, and it is the perfect culmination of more than eight years of hard work by the employees of PSA,” said Jim Cyze, PSA’s former President and CEO and current EVP of Business & Product Development at PLI. “Together, as part of PLI, our combined organization will be able to offer the marketplace world class service, unmatched capabilities, scale and distributive manufacturing, coupled with industry leading turnaround times. These are demanding times in the hospitality, gift, loyalty and membership markets, and we believe that joining forces with PLI clearly establishes our model as the only complete full service model in the industry.”

PLI also announced last week it has reached an exclusive agreement to bring the PLI-Nu eCard to the market. The new innovative product, derived from a sustainable, renewable and recyclable chalk material, was launched last week in North Las Vegas. The PLI-NU eCard marks the first time in history that a truly green product could be made available to the market at comparable pricing to traditional PVC plastic. The PLI-Nu eCard will be available in two options – 85 percent PVC-free and 100 percent PVC-free.
